Jeff Smith Rocks Out

I was just over at Bone-creator Jeff Smith’s blog and was psyched to see he did the album cover and some spot illustrations for the band Say Anything’s new album “In Defense of the Genre.” I never heard of the band (though I’m a big fan of the John Cusack film of the same name), but I always love when any comic artist “breaks through” to the music medium to do album covers.

Here’s a look at what Jeff did for the band:

As a “music journalist,” I can tell you that Say Anything do indeed suck. But cool album cover! Reminds me of when I bought Joe Satriani’s “Surfing With the Alien” as a kid just for that Byrne Silver Surfer cover…good times. And Joe rocks!

Jesse! Great to see you’re still alive and kickin’! And yeah I gave Say Anything a quick listen and wasn’t too impressed. But like I said (and you re-iterated) the album cover is what’s cool. And I totally grabbed that Satriani album for the Surfer cover alone too!
